Come with me to a place, that is really just a small room somewhere in Japan, where the music is loud and the cigarette smoke hangs so thick in the air it moves like curtains in teh glare of the stage lights. There is alcohol in cheap plastic cups. There are huge-ass speakers. There might even be someone attempting to mash all by their lonesome.
Welcome to a hardcore rock concert in Japan.
And then I come along and mess with the status-quo by being not only female, but foreign, and surprise surprise, speaking enough English to know what I'm saying when I sing it.
However for some reason, they seem to like me anyway. Maybe it's the fact that I can speak Japanese. Or the fact that I'm a girl who can appreciate the relative merits of Atreyu. Either way, it means I get a turn on stage, so why not go with the flow?
My band's name is Look For A Future. Not a specific future, I guess; it seems like any future's OK by them. But hey, it sounds cool, right? It consists of six members: two guitarists, one drummer, one bassist, one screamer, and most recently, me. How do you get involved in something like this? Well, the term 'Screamo' is made up of not only the scream, but also the emo, and some screamers just can't really do both.
Come on, read it. You know you want to. What's the matter, afraid you might like it? Scaredy cat.
